Our Story
About Pawsitive Progress Dog Training
Helping dogs and their people thrive — one session at a time.

Lead Trainer
Meet Sarah
Sarah founded Pawsitive Progress Dog Training after years of working with rescue dogs at a local shelter in Bristol. Watching fearful, shut-down dogs gradually learn to trust again sparked a deep passion for positive reinforcement training — and a desire to help dog owners in the wider community.
After completing her qualifications in canine behaviour and training, Sarah launched Pawsitive Progress Dog Training with a simple mission: to help every dog and owner build a relationship based on trust, communication, and mutual confidence.
Sarah specialises in reactive dogs and rescue rehabilitation, drawing on her shelter experience to understand the emotional world of dogs who find everyday life overwhelming. She believes that with patience, consistency, and the right approach, every dog can make progress.
Classes Specialist
Meet James
James joined Pawsitive Progress Dog Training to bring his expertise in puppy socialisation and group classes to the team. With a background in animal behaviour science and a genuine love of working with young dogs, James designs our puppy programmes to set dogs up for a confident, well-adjusted life.
His group classes are structured, fun, and designed to build real-world skills — from loose-lead walking and recall to coping with distractions. James is known for his calm, encouraging teaching style that puts both dogs and owners at ease.
When he's not running classes, James is usually out hiking the Bristol countryside with his own two spaniels.

How We Work
Our Approach
Everything we do is guided by a simple belief: dogs learn best when they feel safe, supported, and motivated.
Positive Reinforcement Only
We never use aversive methods. Every interaction is built on trust, patience, and reward-based techniques that dogs respond to best.
Building Confidence
Whether it's a nervous rescue or a boisterous puppy, we focus on building genuine confidence that lasts beyond the training session.
Qualified & Insured
Fully qualified, insured, and committed to ongoing professional development. Your dog is in safe hands.
Supporting Owners
We don't just train dogs — we coach owners. You'll leave every session with clear, practical skills to use at home.
We'd Love to Meet You and Your Dog
Every journey starts with a conversation. Tell us about your dog and we'll suggest the best way forward.
